February 2009 Color is light: Let us be filled with light.
Scientifically Speaking: Color is the byproduct of the spectrum of light, as it is reflected or absorbed, as received by the human eye and processed by the human brain. WOW! The world is full of light. Visible light has 7 wavelengths. These are the spectrum, the colors in a rainbow. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet, always in that order and always going from the longest wavelengths of red to the shortest wavelengths of the bluish tones. Wavelengths longer than red are called infrared, or “below red” and cannot be seen by the naked human eye. Wavelengths shorter than violet are ultraviolet or “beyond violet”, again not visible to us.
Chakras: Each Chakra, or spinning wheel of light in Hindu tradition is a different color. There are seven major chakras. There are 7 colors in the rainbow. How interesting is that? The Chakra colors ascend in the order of the rainbow-from red to violet. Each Chakra represents a higher frequency than the one before and vibrates on a higher level of consciousness. Above violet, the crown Chakra, you get the “White Light”. How cool that “White” is all the colors blended together! Color Therapy: Using Color to Balance the Chakras: Colors can be used in healing and health. Since each chakra is a color, and colors are simply varying wavelengths and energies, they can be used to help rebalance our Chakras. Every cell in our body needs light energy. Balanced chakras create harmony in our bodies. Color can be applied with solarized water, light boxes/lamps with color filters, color silks, crystals and stones and hands-on healing using thought and intention to send color.
Auras-an Extension of our Physical Body: Our material body is surrounded in light, the aura. Each auric realm vibrates at a different color frequency and each realm has its own issues, ailments, questions and lessons, setbacks and victories. We absorb light all the time. The aura shifts and changes with our moods, emotions, challenges. We can influence our body, mind and spirit on an auric level. Using Color to Create a Mood/ Emotions: Color is often a key factor in décor and decorating. Colors have traditionally been associated with emotions and mood. “Hot red” conveys a sense of excitement, passion, vitality, notice me! “Cool blue” is calming and serene. Choose a color to suit your mood or to change it. Consider which colors would be good for a party versus a meditation room, a bedroom.
Feng Shui and Color: Feng Shui is the Chinese art of arranging objects to create mood and good fortune in your home. Quiz: Is Black or White a Color? White, yes. Black, no. Colors are the bending of light rays. Light appears colorless or white. Sunlight is white light that is composed of all the colors of the spectrum. A rainbow is proof. You can't see the colors of sunlight except when atmospheric conditions bend the light rays and create a rainbow. Prisms do this also. Black, on the other hand, is the absence of light. That’s why it’s black (and therefore not a color).
The Power of Primary Colors: Red, blue, yellow. These are paints (mineral pigments). These 3 colors cannot be made by mixing other colors together. Yet they can be mixed to create all the other colors.
INTERIOR DECORATE WITHOUT RISK: Change the feeling of a room. If the room is dark, get a bright pillow, flowers, picture. If it is blaring; tone it down a bit. Experiment with different colors. Try a new paint color, if you’re brave. LEARN TO READ AURAS: We can learn to see the etheric layers surrounding our bodies. Practice looking at someone in natural lighting against a white wall. Make your eyes soft and look beyond the person. You might see a colored shadow beyond the physical body. They reflect mood and health of the person. Practice makes perfect. Get a sense of the emotion or mood this conveys.
